SEPTEMBER 2015
Medical Mission to Nepal.
On September 9th 2015, 23 cancer survivors and caregivers traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal for a week-long medical mission trip following the April 2015 Nepal earthquakes. Our group was made up of two doctors, two radiation technicians, five nurses and ten cancer survivors ranging in ages 22 to 70. We distributed donated medical supplies and handmade quilts, built a garden outside the Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, and met one-on-one with doctors, nurses and cancer patients to share stories and learn from each other’s cancer journeys. At the end of the trip Above + Beyond Cancer brought together cancer survivors from all walks of life and hosted the first-ever Cancer Survivorship Conference in Nepal.
